Understanding and using Ğ1 (free currency)
A simple guide to paying and getting paid in Ğ1 on Liberta Local, even if you're discovering this currency for the first time.
What is Ğ1?
Ğ1 (pronounced "June") is a free currency, created collectively by its members, with no bank or state behind it. Every person certified by other members receives a small amount each day, the "Universal Dividend" (UD) — as if the currency were created in equal shares by everyone who uses it, rather than lent by a bank.
On Liberta Local, a Ğ1 payment goes directly from the buyer's wallet to the seller's — no one else is involved, and Liberta Local takes no commission on these exchanges.
Why use it on Liberta Local?
You don't need to understand all the economic theory to use it: here's simply what it changes day to day.

Choosing a wallet
A "wallet" is the app that keeps your Ğ1 key safe and lets you send and receive payments. Two free apps, built by different teams, are up to date and reliable today: Ğecko and Cesium. Pick whichever you like best — both work very well.
📱 Ğecko — step by step
- 1. Install the "Ğecko" app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android), or use the web version.
- 2. On first launch, create a new wallet: the app generates your key and a recovery phrase — write it down on paper and keep it safe, it's the only way to recover your funds if you lose your phone.
- 3. Your Ğ1 address (it starts with "g1…") is shown in the app — that's what you give to a seller, or enter in your Liberta Local profile if you sell.
- 4. To pay: scan the seller's QR code or paste their address, enter the amount, confirm — the money goes straight from your wallet to theirs.
- 5. To sell online (not just in person), you need to be "certified" by other members of the web of trust — Ğecko guides you through requesting your first certifications.
💻 Cesium — step by step
- 1. Install Cesium from cesium.app (also works directly in a browser), or from the App Store / Google Play.
- 2. Create an account: Cesium asks you to choose a PIN code to protect access — also keep any recovery information offered at creation.
- 3. Your Ğ1v2 address ("g1…") appears in your account settings — that's what to share or enter in your Liberta Local profile.
- 4. To pay, open the transfer tab, scan the seller's QR code or enter their address, enter the amount and confirm.
- 5. As with any Ğ1 wallet, selling online requires being certified by other members — Cesium lets you track and request these certifications from the web-of-trust tab.
🧾 Tikka — for sellers' bookkeeping
Tikka is not a day-to-day payment wallet, but an accounting tool designed for professionals who want to precisely track their Ğ1 income (useful alongside Ğecko or Cesium, not instead of them).
🔒 Security: the essential rules
- Never share your recovery phrase or private key with anyone — no legitimate person will ever ask for it.
- Always double-check the recipient's address before confirming a payment — a Ğ1 payment is irreversible.
- Keep a copy of your recovery phrase somewhere safe, separate from your phone.
